Dr. Swofford grew up in the Yakima Valley and attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!), graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology degree. He went on to attend medical school at A.T. Still University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona in Phoenix and subspecialty training in hematology and oncology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
 
Growing up in a rural farming community in Central Washington with a family of physicians, Dr. Swofford was introduced to the patient-physician relationship at a young age which ultimately inspired his passion for medicine. During his medical training, it was this interest that led him to pursue a career in Oncology, with a special interest in malignant and benign Hematology. Dr. Swofford believes in comprehensive cancer care for his patients, treating them as well as their family members in a compassionate and caring manner.
 
In his free time, Dr. Swofford enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on the Cougs, and being back home in the Pacific Northwest.
