Cancer Care Northwest (CCNW) is proud to announce the induction of Jessemae L. Welsh, MD, as the newest Board Certified Breast Surgical Oncologist into the practice. Dr. Welsh will help CCNW in the continued mission to apply a comprehensive, innovative, compassionate and integrated approach to beating cancer here in the Inland Northwest.
Dr. Welsh graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, then completed her general surgery residency and fellowship at the University of Iowa. In addition, Dr. Welsh completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Welsh utilizes the latest surgical techniques and focuses on comprehensive care for all types of breast disease, including benign, malignant, and high-risk. Her expertise includes multidisciplinary treatment of breast cancer with the latest surgical techniques, including ultrasound, sentinel lymph node biopsy, breast-conserving surgery, and nipple and skin-sparing mastectomy. Dr. Welsh is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the American College of Surgeons, and was awarded the Scientific Presentation Award by the American Society of Breast Surgeons for her research in sentinel node biopsy.
