Karen Groth
Associate Registered Nurse Practitioner
Karen Groth joined Cancer Care Northwest in 2000 as a Nurse Practitioner. She received
her BSN and MSN from the University of Washington in Seattle and has done post
master's work in nutrition at Washington State University, Pullman, WA. Karen has been certified
as a clinical nurse specialist by the American Nurses Association since 1993. She
obtained a post master's certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2000 from Gonzaga
University in Spokane, WA, and is also certified as a nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Association. She is a member of various nursing organizations including the Oncology Nursing
Society.
Karen has a wide range of experience in the medical field, having worked as a hospital
medical, surgical and intensive care staff nurse, a head nurse, and a case manager.
She has also been a nurse educator at the Intercollegiate College of Nursing, Gonzaga
University, as well as Spokane Community College. Karen’s international experience includes
director of staff development for a hospital in Doha, Qatar. She has published numerous articles
throughout her career and received awards for teaching excellence.
