Robert Fairfax
Physician Assistant
Robert Fairfax joined Cancer Care Northwest in December of 2002 as a Physician Assistant. Robert is a key member of our cancer care team, assisting our Surgical and Gynecologic Oncologists during surgery, making hospital rounds, and seeing patients for pre and post-op consultations.
A Spokane native, Robert attended Shadle Park High School. He began his medical career as a surgical technician while serving in the Navy where he was part of a surgical team that gave medical aid to civilians in the remote jungles of Thailand. After his military service, Robert attended Mesa College in San Diego followed by the University of Washington’s Medex Physician Assistant Program, where he was the commencement speaker for his graduation class.
In 1993, Robert returned to Spokane to work for Associated Orthopedic Specialists, where he remained for 8 years. He has taught courses at Gonzaga, the ICNE Nurse Practitioner program, and the University of Washington Physician Assistant program. He has also functioned as a clinical preceptor for surgical tech students at Scripps Clinic in LaJolla, CA, and Swedish Hospital in Seattle, and for physician assistant students here in Spokane. In 2001, he created the surgical first assistant position at Deaconess Hospital.
