Cancer Surgery Specialists |
Treatment for breast and gynecologic cancers often begins with surgery. Current research strongly suggests the knowledge and skill level of the surgeon who performs this initial surgery can make a critical difference in the success of the entire treatment program.
We are the only cancer treatment facility in the entire Inland Northwest with surgeons who have advanced training in female cancers and who focus solely on cancer each and every day.
Our surgical team includes two surgeons dedicated to gynecologic cancers, two surgical oncologists who focus on breast cancer as well as other cancers, and a breast surgeon dedicated exclusively to diseases of the breast. In addition to general surgery training, all have completed demanding fellowships in their respective surgical subspecialties.
When it comes to breast and gynecologic cancer surgery, this high level of expertise is not available anywhere else in the region.

Consequently, we have assembled all necessary cancer specialists into our practice so each and every patient can have their own individual team of specialists working together on their case. We are the only cancer treatment center in the entire Inland Northwest with Medical, Radiation, Gynecologic and Surgical Oncologists/Breast Surgeons on the same staff, working together as a team…one patient at a time
Once a patient enters our Women’s Center for treatment, they are immediately assigned to a specific Care Plus team compromised of all physicians and staff who will manage their clinical care and support services. Our highly skilled oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, radiation technicians, and research specialists all play a critical role on each patient’s designated care team. We even assign each patient a financial counselor and social worker who can assist them in a variety of ways.
Our Women’s Center surrounds each patient with an ever-widening circle of coordinated care from a world-class team of specialists. It’s the power of teamwork at its best.

Clinical Trials For Breast & Gynecologic Cancers |
Our Women’s Center For Breast & Gynecologic Cancer is pleased to offer patients access to the very latest cutting edge treatment options…right here at home. Just a few short years ago, patients needing these advanced treatments had to travel to a large city or university to participate in the newest research trials. Clinical trials are part of our overall pledge to provide our patients with all the services and treatment options they need to successfully meet the challenges of cancer. We integrate research into our total system of care, making clinical trials available at the same locations as our other comprehensive treatment services.
Cancer Care Northwest’s Research Division consists of several lead research physicians and a full-time, dedicated staff who coordinate all trials. We are privileged to have nationally recognized cancer research physicians in our practice who are currently playing a key role in several major studies now in progress across the United States.
We have a wide range of clinical trials available for both breast and gynecologic cancer patients, offering women hope and healing…right here at home.

Our outpatient cancer treatment centers, located at four convenient locations in the Spokane area, offer women the very latest treatment technologies, diagnostic tools, cutting-edge research trials and comprehensive support programs. Everything women need to successfully battle cancer is available…all within one practice. We have integrated various components of our Women’s Center For Breast & Gynecologic Cancer into all four of our locations, giving women access to this unique program at a treatment location most convenient for them.
We are committed to providing our patients access to the very newest diagnostic tools used in cancer treatment. We are the only cancer treatment facility in the Inland Northwest with a stationary Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanner, the very latest nuclear imaging technology used in the diagnosis and management of various cancers and other diseases. This exciting technology brings a whole new level of diagnostic capabilities to our practice and is an extremely valuable tool our physicians use to develop and monitor the course of a patient’s treatment. In cancer applications, PET provides a high degree of accuracy in evaluating recurrent breast cancer, as well as many other cancers.

I Thrive® Supportive Care Program |
 While the supportive care needs of women with cancer are often acknowledged, they have been relatively ignored by traditional medicine…until now. Cancer Care Northwest is pleased to be the first and only cancer treatment facility in the Inland Northwest with a comprehensive, structured supportive care program geared for body, mind and spirit.
Our innovative I Thrive program offers a wide range of services to support women during treatment and beyond. We’ve teamed with St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute to offer medically supervised individualized exercise programs, as well as intervention screening, nutrition counseling, and complementary therapy information. We also provide advice on many other critical issues such as after surgery care, lymphedema, treatment side effects, sexuality, self-esteem, depression, fatigue and other topics.
