Dr. Joni Nichols has been
practicing Medical Oncology in Spokane since 1993 and
has been a member of the Cancer Care Northwest team
since 1995. In addition to her duties at the clinic,
she is also co-Medical Director of Hospice of Spokane.
Dr. Nichols is board certified in Internal Medicine,
Oncology and Hematology and has a special interest in
breast and ovarian cancer, as well as pain management.
A
native of Rochester, New York, Dr. Nichols graduated
Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire,
in 1981 with a degree in Biochemistry. She then obtained
her M.D. degree from Duke University in Durham, North
Carolina, where she earned membership in the Alpha Omega
Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her internship
and residency at the University of California Department
of Medicine in San Francisco, where she received the
American Medical Women’s Achievement Citation for superior
performance.
Dr.
Nichols received her specialized training in Oncology/Hematology
at the University of California and Stanford University
Medical Center. She was the recipient of several fellowships,
including the American Cancer Society Research Fellowship,
the Katherine McCormick Fellowship for Research, and
the Bank of America Giannini Foundation Fellowship for
Medical Research.
Married
with two children, Dr. Nichols enjoys gardening, skiing,
and outdoor activities in her spare time. |
