Dr.
Danko Martincic, a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist,
joined Cancer Care Northwest in August of 2006.
He completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology
at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where
he received the Hugh Jackson Morgan Fellow of the
Year Award in 2003. While at Vanderbilt, he was
also the recipient of several grants related to
cancer research.Born and raised in Croatia, a small
European country near Italy, Dr. Martincic graduated
from medical school in Croatia and practiced medicine
there for several years. In 1991 he moved to the
United States to peruse research opportunities.
He completed a three-year internship in molecular
biology at the University of Southern California,
and then went on to Vanderbilt University
where he did cancer-related research for several
years before completing his Internal Medicine internship
and residency, followed by his Hematology/Oncology
fellowship training in 2002-2006. Much
of his research was spent studying the mechanisms
of resistance to chemotherapy agents and investigating
coagulation problems. Dr. Martincic has a special
interest in clinical trials, malignant hematology
and acute leukemias and lymphomas. Throughout his
career, he has published extensively on various cancer-related
topics. |
